"Planet of the Apes" #16 covers

I was honored to get to color covers for issues 1, 5-16 of this series. It was so much fun to get to continue on with this "Planet of the Apes"series even once I had to drop off interiors due to the birth of my son. I hope everyone enjoyed my covers as much as the story. "Planet of the Apes" Annual #1

When POTA editor, Dafna Pleban, contacted me about coloring a short story for the annual I jumped on it. She even gave me a choice of stories and I picked Jeff Parker and Ben Dewey's. Ben's line just sang to me immediately and knew that was the one for me. I thoroughly enjoyed coloring it and Jeff's story is so much fun I honestly would love to see more done with the same characters. The annual came out this week with three other short stories so go pick your copy up now!

"Adventure Time" #4

I got asked to color half of Paul Pope's short story (and Moebius tribute) for "Adventure Time" #4 at BOOM! Studios a couple months ago. I colored the 'other world' panels and then composited the other colors with mine for final. It was a fast but super fun project! This page called for my color to look like an oil painting so I came up with a new technique that I could action in Photoshop to get the effect. Thought it looked pretty good. It's only one of the two pages I colored and the white area is by the other colorist so I don't take credit for his work. I don't want to post up the entire short, it's only four pages, so you'll have to pick up the issue to read it!

"Planet of the Apes" #15 cover

When my son was born I had to quit coloring the interiors for "Planet of the Apes" but was really lucky editor Dafna Pleban was so awesome and kept me on to do covers. These have been an absolute joy to work on and this was no exception. It also was another chance to color Damian Couceiro which is always a pleasure. #15 is out this week so go pick up a copy!

"Incorruptible" #30

Out of all of the books I've colored, I grew the most on 'Incorruptible'. Twenty-one issues in a row will do that. That's just more than 2/3rds the entire series. I really learned a lot during the series making this finale really hard on me. There was no other book I looked forward to as much as 'Incorruptible'. I've missed it this past month and know it'll be quite some time before I stop wondering when I'll get the next script. I hope I made everyone proud and brought an added dimension to the book with my color.

I'd like to thank the following for making my run on 'Incorruptible' such a fantastic experience: Shannon Watters for being so wonderful, professional, and personable an editor, Marcio Takara drew most of the issues I colored and each page was a pleasure I hope to experience again, Damian Couceiro came in near the end and I immediately loved each issue, and, of course, Mark Waid for writing a man so lost, like so many of us, it took something horrible to teach him how wrong he was and that knowing you're wrong is a very different thing from knowing how to be right.

"Extermination" #1 2nd print cover

Got to work with Kalman Andrasofszky again, coloring his line for the 2nd-print cover of BOOM! Studios' new title 'Extermination'. It's out this week so go pick up a copy!

"Irredeemable" #37 cover A

Originally this was going to be the 'B' cover but ended up the 'A'! The line art is by Kalman Andrasofszky and he was great to work with and had good and appreciative input when I colored this. Pretty damn happy how this turned out. Not sure I knew it was going to be the last issue when I colored it so am really happy it turned out as well as it did.

"Irredeemable" #37 FINAL ISSUE

That's it. That's the end of 'Irredeemable'. Very sad to see it go but it's going out on a good note. It's been getting great reviews and even heard about some people saying it's the only comic out this week that matters. Considering how well crafted the ending is I won't give anything away. Who wins? Quibit? Plutonian? Modeus? But if you've ever considered yourself a comic book reader then it'll be you that wins because its ending is talking directly to you.

I have really enjoyed coloring this title over the last six months and pinch-coloring the months before that. It's been wonderful working on both this title and its sister-book 'Incorruptible'. I've got to tip my hat to editor Shannon Watters for being wonderful under-fire and making my run on this title go as smoothly as possible. She's great! I'll miss working with her and coloring 'Irredeemable' but I'm hoping to find new titles this summer to color though it'll be hard to get bigger and better than a Mark Waid book!

But if you've not had enough Mark Waid then you can find more of his writing along with Peter Krause, the original artist on 'Irredeemable', over at Thrillbent.com on 'Insufferable' which I'm coloring! While we may be losing two Waid books were gaining a bad ass, free digital comic. Check it out!

"Incorruptible" #29

My 20th issue in a row. 20th. That shocks even me. What is more shocking is that this is my favorite of all twenty. I think this issue turned out GORGEOUS! Really proud of this one. At stores now. There is only one issue left after this!

"Irredeemable" #36

Only one more issue left of Mark Waid's masterpiece of psychology applied to the superhero genre. I'm currently coloring #37 and it's a little bittersweet.

For this issue I was actually mentioned by CBR with a glowing review! "The coloring from Nolan Woodard continues to astound as he switches between pages of character to pages of brilliant science and dastardly deeds." said reviewer Ryan Lindsay of CBR here. Talk about humbling. I've got to make sure #37 at the very least reaches this level. No pressure. No. None. Oh boy.

"Incorruptible" #28

With the death of Armadale we continue counting down to the end as the radiation cloud from 'Irredeemable' comes to America and someone from Max's past returns in this issue in a big, big way. Damian Couceiro comes aboard as the line artist and really shines in the dirt and grit that is Coalville's story of a bad man gone good. This series continues to prove why MTV rated it one of the best ongoing series of 2011. Get your copy this week!

"Planet of the Apes" #12 covers

Originally I had colored three covers but it seems they scrapped the third. The cover A, by Carlos Magno, might be my favorite cover for POTA ever! Love it! The first version was cold since almost all of the covers have been hot hot hot and I wanted to try something different. I was asked to change it so I just swapped some masks around in my files and came up with the final version. Either way, I really love it and hope you do too.
