"Fantastic Four" #8 COVER

Got to color this cover over line by Leonard Kirk. The Thing has been arrested for murder. I really love doing covers. They let me play in Photoshop without fear of needing to replicate anything for multiple images.

In the printed cover they covered up the drop of blood on his fist that I added in color, but in my uncropped version at the bottom you can see it. If you can tell a story in a single image, you should!

"ORIGINAL SIN" #3.1 COVER

Starting doing a few covers over Greg Land and this one was a ton of fun. One of my first colored in RGB and thought it turned out pretty well.

"Archer & Armstrong" covers

Some of you know that for seven years I worked as a professor of Sequential Art and shared that honor alongside Shawn Crystal. He was always striving for bigger, better, more and we watched one another hone various skills. Mine mainly in color and it's application to story but he exploded in penciling and inking, composition, figure drawing, design, and how it all wraps together for story. I've colored a few of his pieces, even his convention banner, but never "professionally" until now. So happy to say Shawn is doing a series of covers for Valiant Comics' "Archer & Armstrong" during the "American Wasteland" arc and he asked me to color them! This first one was done side-by-side over ciders in my old basement studio just as my family and I were packing to move. We were both really happy with the results and Valiant seems to be too. Can't wait to share the rest!

UPDATE: I've included all three covers we did for issues 20-22. Lots of fun!

"Iron Man Annual" #1 Cover

Was very lucky and brought on to color the cover for "Iron Man Annual" #1 over Paul Rivoche! Proud of this cover. Really cool and a little different for me. The annual comes out this February so pre-order yours now!

"Ultimate Comics: Cataclysm" 0.1

Out of no where I got a chance to dive into the Ultimate Universe at Marvel with the 0.1 for "Cataclysm". It was hugely fun! Galactus! GA!LACT!US! Don't know if anyone noticed the selective pixelation of the pages during Vision's dream. That was fun to do. Oh, and I love coloring space scenes. Damn, loads of fun stuff in this issue. Also got to color the cover so this issue's color is 100% me. Really honored and look forward to more Ultimate comics! ;)

"Planet of the Apes" #16 covers

I was honored to get to color covers for issues 1, 5-16 of this series. It was so much fun to get to continue on with this "Planet of the Apes"series even once I had to drop off interiors due to the birth of my son. I hope everyone enjoyed my covers as much as the story. It's a great read so if you've not picked it up I highly recommend you do!

"Planet of the Apes" #15 cover

When my son was born I had to quit coloring the interiors for "Planet of the Apes" but was really lucky editor Dafna Pleban was so awesome and kept me on to do covers. These have been an absolute joy to work on and this was no exception. It also was another chance to color Damian Couceiro which is always a pleasure. #15 is out this week so go pick up a copy!

"Extermination" #1 2nd print cover

Got to work with Kalman Andrasofszky again, coloring his line for the 2nd-print cover of BOOM! Studios' new title 'Extermination'. It's out this week so go pick up a copy!

"Irredeemable" #37 cover A

Originally this was going to be the 'B' cover but ended up the 'A'! The line art is by Kalman Andrasofszky and he was great to work with and had good and appreciative input when I colored this. Pretty damn happy how this turned out. Not sure I knew it was going to be the last issue when I colored it so am really happy it turned out as well as it did.

"Planet of the Apes" #12 covers

Originally I had colored three covers but it seems they scrapped the third. The cover A, by Carlos Magno, might be my favorite cover for POTA ever! Love it! The first version was cold since almost all of the covers have been hot hot hot and I wanted to try something different. I was asked to change it so I just swapped some masks around in my files and came up with the final version. Either way, I really love it and hope you do too.
