"Grindhouse: Blood Lagoon" #2

AKA "Grindhouse" #4 as it's a part of Dark Horse's Grindhouse series. Written by Alex de Campi and line art by Chris Peterson! I'm back on the color.

In my last post on "Blood Lagoon" I mentioned the heart Alex has so skillfully placed at the core of this story. These first few pages just erupt with that heart. This is one of the most powerful scenes I've ever been honored to color. Wayne, a gay man, has gone home to visit his homophobic dad in his home state of Alabama to tell him some news. If you know anything about recent rulings about gay rights in Alabama, this scene is very topical and smacks of an honest, verbal whipping people like Wayne's dad deserve. It's so good. "Grindhouse: Blood Lagoon" #1

AKA "Grindhouse" #3 because it's a part of Dark Horse's Grindhouse series. Written by Alex de Campi and line art by Chris Peterson! I'm on color, as if that needed clarification.

This new chapter of Garcia was originally plotted by Chris and I over a Facebook post. We came up with some silly ideas and just ran with it. Alex, to her great credit, made our crazy work and then gave it heart. Lots of heart. Some of the best in any comic I've ever worked on. So please check out Garcia and Wayne from "Bee Vixens" in this new two-part story "Blood Lagoon"!

"Grindhouse: BeeVixens from Mars" #2

"Bee Vixens" was a blast to do. Just stupid fun with grindhouse and Alex and Chris were fantastic to work with! We have plans to get the gang back together for more! Chris and I plotted out a sequel that's screeeeeewed up, like ya do, and there's something else in the works too. Chris already did a promo image for it if you look around.

"Grindhouse: BeeVixens from Mars" #1

Last week writer Alex De Campi was interviewed by Bleeding Cool and she talked about a bunch of her projects including an upcoming story called "Bee Vixens from Mars" that'll be published by Dark Horse in the first two issues of "Grindhouse: The Doors Open at Midnight". Wasn't sure I'd enjoy coloring this (while I definitely have a raunchy sense of humor I don't like my work to generally reflect that anymore) but it has turned out to be a huge load of fun! So glad I got to color this story! It won't be out for awhile so enjoy these early preview pages. The lettered versions are at the interview link above.

Plunkett's Hamlet Vader

Decided when I can't sleep and melatonin isn't working I'll do fun stuff; i.e. it looks like 'work' to some but doesn't pay the bills yet invests in the soul. There's a folder on my desktop chock-full of black and white sketches I collect from the internet perfect for some quick coloring fun. So I give you Killian Plunkett's unused cover for Dark Horse's "Star Wars Tales" #6 colored by moi. I hope to do this kinda stuff and originals more often.

Fear Agent

Shawn Crystal found out Dark Horse Comics was in need of a last minute colorist so I jumped on it. Chris Samnee did the pencils and inks. This'll be the back cover to "Fear Agent" #2 out in July!
