"The Thing"

Last quarter, fellow professor and amazing cartoonist Chris Schweizer drew this poster for the classic horror flick "John Carpenter's 'The Thing'" in one of his classes. Five milliseconds after I saw it, even uncompleted, I knew I wanted to color it! Lucky for me he finished it and sent the high res to me to do just that. Played around with my new Art Pen on my Cintiq and a new process which I'm really loving on this. My main focus was to make sure it read from a distance and let the amazing detail Chris put into it be a reward for looking closer. (There's some ghoulish stuff happening so look really close!) Pretty damn happy with how it turned out and so happy Chris shared it with me!

Color Warm-ups

Started doing color warm-ups here and there to give myself a playground to have fun in before my days get started. This is a collection of some of my favorites. It's all my color but each one I make sure to credit to the appropriate line artist. Enjoy!

Chris Samnee's Dazzler

Declan Shalvey's Cyclops

Ron Salas' Silver Surfer

Ron Salas' Stephen Hawking

Garry Brown's Locutus of Borg

Matteo Scalera's Batman

Kevin Mellon's Colossus & Kitty

Mike Mignola's Hellboy

"Insufferable" #34

The first arc of "Insufferable" came to a close. But it's not over! We'll be back in 2013 with the second arc and more of this troubled duo. Until then you can also purchase collections of "Insufferable" on Comixology!

Written by Mark Waid, line art by Peter Krause, lettering by Troy Peteri, and color by me. Which one is truly the insufferable one?

"Wolverine & the X-MEN" #25 cover

Here's another cover from one of our guests at SCAD-Atlanta's 2012 Artists Forum in the SEQA department. This time from Ramón Pérez. I have no idea who two of these characters are (they've not been introduced at the time I colored this) so I just ran with it. They're most likely incorrect but that's okay. Really loving coloring these covers and pages from our guests. They were all wonderful!

This is the cover to "Wolverine & the X-MEN" #25 but with my color. This is not the official cover color. Laura Martin did the final color actually used.

Roll over for the original line art by Ramón Pérez!
